Dear friends,
How are you doing? 3 months have passed since I came to Bangladesh. Now it is winter in Dhaka, but most of the time the temperature is above 20℃、and there is no rain, so it is very dusty. Although I need a blanket during the night, it is comfortable during day time.
Christmas time I spent at LAMB Hospital. I didn’t plan to work there though. But on Dec. 24th a young lady who had abdominal pain came to the hospital. I was asked to see her because I was the only surgeon in that hospital then. So I met her and found out that she had an intestinal obstruction. As far as I could see she didn't need an operation, so I decided to observe how things are going. But when I checked after a while her abdominal pain was still there and her temperature increased. So the next morning I finally decided to do forward with the operation and was grateful for the big help by other doctors and nurses. The operation was a success and the state of health of the young lady improved. Because of all theses circumstances I couldn’t attend Christmas service in the morning. But for me this unexpected experience was like a Christmas present from the Lord.
From Sunday to Thursday a go to language school. I finished the phonetics 2 months course and now I am learning Bengali script, which is very difficult for me to memorize. But nevertheless I already learned 50 letters and this week I am learning combined letters, which is even more complicated. I hope that I can get used to read the letters.
From Jan. 15th I am staying with a Bangladesh family. It is a Christian couple with two daughters (7 and 2,5years old), a wonderful family. I can do my homework with the elder daughter. And they I enjoy their Bengali food. Although they have only two rooms to live in, they offered one room for my me! I am very happy to be able to stay with them and with their help I hope I gcan improve my ability of talking Bengali.
I will study at school during next month. After that I am planning to stay at LAMB and will see how they are working, but that's still not definite. On May I will come back to Dhaka and continue studying Bengali.
Please
pray for
1. Study of Bengali
2. For the life with Bengali family
3. Preparation for the work at the hospital
