Dear Friends,
Greetings from already hot Dhaka. How are you doing? I was staying in Dinajpur, which is north of Bangladesh, last 2 months. It was a relly nice stay. I stayed in the house which was made by a British missionary 100 years ago. I stayed there 4 days a week. And I went local school in the morning. I attended mainly at the KG class, in which there are 6 years old children. In this class I could learn a lot. Because the teacher uses many imperative, like ‘ Open your book.’ ‘ Show your parents.’ At first I couldn’t understand what the children are talking. So one girl said to me,’ You can’t understand at all ! ’ I felt very discouraged. But we became good friends. At brake time I run with the children holding hands. To stay with them was really fun.
The people in the mission compound was also very kind. They talked to me and invited me to their house for tea and dinner. I was very happy there.
3 days a week I stayed at LAMB Hospital. There I worked with Dr.B, who is woring as a surgeon. He is very experienced so I can learn a lot from him. In 2 months I could to get to know many staff in the hospital, and also got used to the system in the hospital. Now I can ask simple questions in Bengali to patients. But if the patients’s answer is not simple I can’t understand. I think I have to learn more.
At the end of April I came back to Dhaka. Here I will go to the language center for 2 months. I will study grammer and also I will learn Bible story in Bengali. In June I am going to stay at the hospital for 2 weeks during Dr.B’s summer vacation. I’m going to continue language study until next October.
Please pray for
1. Visa; I am applying for the extension for a long time.
2. Language study (Bengali and also English)
